Davies Creative Workshop Announcements

PPA Super Monday

On October 14th and 15th at 9 am I will be helping you learn all about flash photography and how to setup a home based photography studio. My classes, “How to Create a Home Studio” and “Flash Made Easy: A Class for Beginners and Natural Light Photographers”, are part of a nationwide educational event by Professional Photographers of America (PPA). Called Super Monday—as the majority are held on Mondays—these classes have been a huge success each year. Known for individual and focused attention, Super Monday features educational classes on diverse topics around the country, hosted by professional photographers.

You can learn more and register at http://www.ppa.com/education-events/sm/states/sm_states_co.php where you will receive early bird pricing of $99 (normally $120) until October 3rd.

Project Work

Florabella Project 24 – If you’ve come to my workshops you have heard me preach about giving yourself projects to get you out and shooting. Well if you have trouble giving yourself one, here it is all documented and ready for you. There are twenty-four different themes for you to get an image of for this particular project. Upcoming Davies Creative Workshops

8/19/2012 – Forest Location Model Shoot – This was a very successful model shoot we did last year and I’m excited to repeat it again this year.

If there is a particular workshop subject you are interested in, just email me at matt@daviescreative.com and let me know – we’ll get a workshop developed.

Tips & Tricks Articles:

A Photowalker’s Guide – This amazing resource from Manfrotto provides guides for photo walks in cities all around the world. It highlights locations to check out (on a map as well) and a photo gallery of shots taken in those cities.

Why You Need a Neutral Density Filter – Another topic that we have covered in several of our workshops – the ND and Graduated ND filters. This article does a great job of explaining them in detail.

Tips for Successful Mini-Sessions – This post from Clickin’ Moms offers a great introduction into the concept of mini-sessions. These can be a tremendous boost to your slow months, slow days or even for a quick shot of new business.

How to Plan a Stylized Shoot – Another great CM article, this gives you an overview of the things you need to plan when doing a stylized shoot. There are some tips that can really save your bacon when you start doing them for the first time.

Perfect Inspiration Episode 19 – On Seeing The Forest For The Trees – OnOne Software’s weekly video series is worth checking out, and you can subscribe to notifications of future episodes.
