Upcoming Davies Creative Workshops

8/1/2012 – Outdoor Portraits Using Natural Light and Flash – We will work in a beautiful lake setting to learn about creating beautiful portraits. We will begin with natural light and learn how to use the sun and reflectors to light a portrait.  As it gets darker we will transition to using flash balanced with the ambient light to create natural looking images.

8/5/2012 – Fundamentals of Exposure – In this workshop, we will explore the fundamental of photography – the exposure. We will discuss the role of aperture, shutter speed and ISO in making the exposure. We will discuss how to determine the technically correct exposure and how to use this information to make creative decisions in your photography. We will discuss how to use your camera to make adjustments. We will cover the typical settings that most cameras use and how to apply them to making your creative exposure decisions. All throughout the workshop, we will try everything we learn.

8/19/2012 – Forest Location Model Shoot – This was a very successful model shoot we did last year and I’m excited to repeat it again this year.

If there is a particular workshop subject you are interested in, just email me at matt@daviescreative.com and let me know – we’ll get a workshop developed.

Tips & Tricks Articles:

Selling Nature Photography – A free guide from PhotoShelter.

Craft and Vision – The home of the $5.00 e-book. A wide range of titles in VERY affordable formats, and they even discount if you buy multiple books.  My favorite author about photography as an art rather than a technical subject – David DuChemin – has quite a few great books available here.

5 Incredible Tips to Utilize Your Neighborhood’s Natural Light – This article helps you look at the light that is present right around you and how to analyze the area from a portrait perspective.

Perfect Inspiration EPISODE 17 – ON BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO OLD IMAGES – OnOne Software’s weekly video series is worth checking out, and you can subscribe to notifications of future episodes.
